Kelly West

Kelly is a native to the Gulf Coast of Alabama. She draws inspiration from animals, both wild and domesticated. Kelly loves to play with lots of paint on the canvas with thick brushes for bold, sharp marks or palette knives for deeper blends of color, whatever the piece requires. She paints from an experimental perspective, and often follows a color palette on a whim. Kelly is intrigued by abstract art and fascinated by realism. This love of two opposites pushes her freedom in the art, that edges on discipline and recklessness. In Kelly's process, she's taking note of any contrasts and subtleties, all while tone matching and pushing the color spectrum to guide her audience to view animal portraits through a one of a kind and ever evolving filter, through the eyes of Kelly West.
